Position Summary
As a Research Associate at Matrisome Bio, you will be an integral part of our growing research and development team to support oncology drug development programs. We are seeking a motivated scientist to play a key role in building Matrisome’s internal capabilities in protein engineering, production/purification, and characterization. This role is a unique opportunity to join an early-stage, fast-paced start-up founded by world renowned experts in ECM biology, oncology, and bioengineering. This is an on-site position based in Cambridge, MA.
Essential Duties include (but are not limited to):
- Collaborate with scientists to design, produce, and characterize engineered proteins in bacterial and mammalian systems
- Establish, optimize, and execute protocols for protein production and engineering using state-of-the-art equipment and methods
- Take a proactive role in troubleshooting experiments and overcoming scientific barriers
- Work together with colleagues, contract research organizations, and academic collaborators
- Ensure smooth lab operations: maintain laboratory equipment and restock supplies as needed
- Document experiments, record data in electronic lab notebooks and company databases, and communicate clearly and precisely with various stakeholders
- Provide and share regular updates at internal meetings including summarizing data and study reports
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in biology, biochemistry, biomolecular/biomedical engineering, pharmacology, or related fields
- Experience with standard molecular and cellular biology techniques (e.g. cloning, plasmid purification, DNA analysis, cell culture)
- Experience with protein expression in mammalian and/or bacterial systems
- Experience with protein purification and characterization methods (e.g. affinity chromatography, SDS-PAGE, FPLC, HPLC, LC-MS)
- Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and GraphPad Prism for data entry, analysis, and presentation
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
- High level of integrity and commitment to quality is essential
