Job Overview:

We are looking for a skilled and motivated associate scientist with strong problem-solving skills and demonstrated experience in cellular biology, therapeutic protein development, and assay development. A strong background in immunology or cancer biology would be a plus. You will be responsible for design and execution of key studies to support mechanistic characterization of fusion proteins. You will be required to provide data, as well as present the data to the project team and senior management.

The candidate should be able to work independently, be technically creative, and excited to excel in a lab-focused, scientific role in a fast-paced, collaborative start-up environment.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop and apply cell-based assays to characterize protein function in cancer cells and in immune co-culture systems
  • Perform biochemical characterization of proteins by ELISA, SDS-PAGE, or other in vitro assays
  • Maintain mammalian cell cultures.
  • Accurately report results and methods, including recording information in an electronic lab notebook.
  • Communicate efficiently with team members and management, and present data to colleagues and management.

Candidate profile:

  • Experience with biochemical assays, such as ELISA, SDS-PAGE and Western blots.
  • Experience with cell-based assays.
  • Experience with novel assay development
  • Strong analytical and data analysis skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work independently.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of oncology or immunology is beneficial.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills are a must. Demonstrated ability work as part of a team to execute experimental plans and deliver results is necessary.

Computer Skills:

  • Expertise with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word, as well as graphing software (i.e. GraphPad Prism) is required. Experience with SnapGene and electronic lab notebooks is beneficial.

Education and Experience:

  • A BS or MS in Biology, Biochemistry, or related field, as well as 4+ years of laboratory experience is required. Two years of experience in industry is preferred. Title is dependent upon experience level.
