Want to learn more about the scientists, inventors, and entrepreneurs who made Cambridge one of the most innovative cities in the world? And get a feel for the places that are spawning a whole new wave of breakthroughs? Join Bob Krim and Scott Kirsner on November 8th for a special walking tour of Cambridge's innovation past, present, and future. This is something that happens just once a year — and sometimes less! (And if you've participated in the tour before, this time we have *entirely new* stops and content.)

We'll start at a building that once housed Polaroid founder Edwin Land's private research and development laboratory...learn about the invention of the sewing machine...how a neighborhood that was once Candyland became the world's center of biotech...why the first venture capitalists who met Mark Zuckerberg turned him down...how vaccines came to the United States...visit the spot that inspired the creation of Microsoft...and much more.

Your hosts are Bob Krim, historian and director of the Innovation-Entrepreneurship Center at Framingham State University, and Scott Kirsner, Innovation Economy columnist at the Boston Globe.

*ALL* proceeds will be donated to a worthy nonprofit. And when you register, you get a vote on which one. (Your four choices: Computer Clubhouse, Science Club for Girls, BUILD Boston, or the MassTLC Education Foundation.)

We'll plan to start promptly at 12:30. The starting point is LabCentral, located mid-way between the Central and Kendall Square stops on the Red Line. It's a walking tour, so come in comfortable clothes and shoes. We'll take the T from Central Square to Harvard Square, so a T pass or CharlieTicket will be necessary. We'll wrap up in Harvard Square by 4 PM. You'll be close to the Red Line, and also good spots to grab a drink, coffee, or a snack.

We hope you can join us.

(We'll reschedule in the event of pouring rain, but otherwise will run the tour on Nov 8th. Once you buy a ticket, there are no refunds — sorry. But you may transfer it to another person.)
