Biography: James F. Coffey

Jim Coffey is a Partner in the Boston office of Locke Lord LLP and Co-Chair of the Firm's Life Sciences group. He focuses his practice on mergers and acquisitions and has significant experience in venture capital and corporate finance transactions. Jim has advised public and private companies, both domestically and overseas, in mergers and acquisitions, tender and exchange offers, public and private offerings, and in the formation of partnerships, joint ventures, and strategic alliances.

Jim has represented both borrowers and lenders in commercial loan transactions, as well as in distressed situations. He has served as lead counsel in corporate reorganizations, bankruptcies, workouts, receiverships, assignments for the benefit of creditors, distressed asset sales and in other complex corporate restructurings.

Jim has broad based experience representing companies in many business sectors including: life sciences, health care, banking and financial services, energy and utilities, digital media, information technology, manufacturing, food and beverage, and consumer products. Jim is a member of the Boston Harbor Angels, a prominent angel investment group, and draws upon his extensive business background in order to provide pragmatic solutions to client problems.

Jim is listed in The Best Lawyers in America for Mergers and Acquisitions and in the IAM Patent 1000. Jim has also been recognized in a survey of his peers as a Massachusetts "Super Lawyer" by Law and Politics magazine. Jim is AV® rated by the Martindale-Hubbell peer-review rating system.
