Join us this Black History Month as we celebrate the invaluable contributions of Black and Brown communities to the fields of health and medicine. This event will honor the trailblazing achievements of these communities, from groundbreaking medical discoveries to the enduring impact of HeLa cells, derived from Henrietta Lacks. These immortal cells have revolutionized medical research and continue to be a cornerstone in scientific advancements.

Our program will also address significant health challenges faced by Black and Brown communities today, including disparities in healthcare access and outcomes. We will highlight diseases that disproportionately affect these communities, such as sickle cell anemia, and explore how these conditions impact individuals and families. Despite progress, there is still a long journey ahead to achieve racial health equity. The health biotech community plays a crucial role in this effort, yet there remains a substantial gap in representation and support that must be bridged to ensure equitable healthcare for all.

Patients, experts, and advocates will share insights on tackling these disparities, focusing on innovative solutions and community-driven initiatives. This is an opportunity to engage in meaningful conversations, learn about ongoing challenges, and be inspired by the resilience and contributions of Black and Brown individuals in healthcare.
