Did you know that companies like Medimmune and Affymetrix each received SBIR funding during their early stages to help grow their companies and develop compelling new products? There have been exciting new developments with SBIR in the past couple of years that you might not be aware of. Venture-backed small businesses are now eligible to apply and companies can now compete directly for larger Phase II SBIR awards. The National Cancer Institute SBIR & STTR is currently funding 372 projects in the areas of IT, diagnostics, imaging, devices, therapeutics, and tools for basic research.
