LabCentral was founded in 2013 as a launchpad for high-potential life sciences start-ups. Operating over 225,000 sq. feet in Cambridge and Boston, LabCentral offers a network of fully permitted laboratory and office spaces for as many as 125 start-ups comprising approximately 1000 scientists and entrepreneurs. 

LabCentral provides month to month, fully functional lab space, permits, waste handling, plus all reasonably common lab equipment for bioresearch. View an extensive list of equipment across the sites here. 

Access to conference rooms, event space, and kitchens is also included. In addition, LabCentral hosts a large amount of programming specific to the interests of life-sciences startups.

LabCentral 610 is a 33,000-square-foot facility located near LabCentral in Pfizer's Kendall Square R&D building. It can accommodate up to six early- to mid-stage companies with approximately 175 scientists and entrepreneurs. Eligible startups are those with impactful science, strong execution, and high prospects for success.

For process development and scale-up 

LabCentral 238 is a 100,000 square-foot facility purpose-designed to provide LabCentral resident companies with easier access to the resources needed for the transition from R&D bench-scale science to scalable process development in anticipation of biomanufacturing. With capacity for up to 13 early-to-mid stage companies, LabCentral 238 supports the transition from research and development into scalable workflows for production of pre-clinical material. The facility design enables teams to grow to accommodate their evolving company needs.

Bayer’s Co.Lab Cambridge is specifically designed to support cutting-edge cell and gene therapies (CGT) entrepreneurs with access to Bayer’s enterprise-wide expertise in addition to state-of-the-art laboratory and office space operated by LabCentral.

The space is co-located within the Bayer Research and Innovation Center (BRIC), BlueRock Therapeutics, and Leaps by Bayer at 238 Main Street, allowing for direct access to Bayer’s experts. All Co.Lab residents have the opportunity to engage, exchange, and share their experience and ideas across international Bayer Co.Lab locations.
