Sezin Yigit
Associate Director, Science Operations & Strategic Relationships
As the Associate Director of Science Ops and Strategic Partnership, Sezin splits her focus on the design, buildout and launch for expansion projects as well as providing technical strategic support to resident companies and partners.
Prior to joining LabCentral, Sezin was the VP of Innovation at Mori, a Boston based agtech startup working to reduce food and plastic waste by its proprietary edible protein-based technology. As the cofounder of Mori, she built out the foundation for the application technology by working with industry partners; scaled up the manufacturing process from bench to reactors and expanded the technology as a platform to different verticals by leading multiple cross functional teams.
She is an active mentor at Tufts Derby Entrepreneurship Center, and Innovator in Residence at Tufts Food & Nutrition Innovation Institute at Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy.
Sezin holds a BS in Chemistry from Bogazici University (Istanbul/TR), a PhD in Biotechnology and Chemistry from Tufts University (a proud Kaplanite) and completed postdoctoral work at Yale Medical School combining her biopolymer expertise with cell biology.
Favorite school science project: Middle school project: create ‘a novel’ product that you can share with others. I chose to ‘cook’ and created healthy lentil chips by using only lentil paste and transglutaminase enzyme (it glues proteins together). It was certainly not the tastiest snack but was the only edible project of the class.
