Lead, Lab Operations

Katherine is a lab operations lead at LabCentral. Katherine assists in establishing and streamlining lab operating procedures, supporting resident scientists and maintaining shared equipment. Before coming to LabCentral, Katherine completed her doctorate in Neuroscience studying the relationship between social hierarchy position and stress exposure in mice. Before that, she spent several years working in the Longwood medical area where she ran a metabolic core which provided open circuit indirect calorimetry, thermal imaging and bomb calorimetry services. Prior to that, Katherine studied neuroscience at Vassar college with concentrations in Studio Art and Japanese. 

Favorite School Science Project: Visualizing brain activity in a mouse after it ate chocolate chips by clearing the whole brain -- making it see through -- and using fluorescence to locate individual neurons in 3D.
