Founded in the heart of Kendall Square in 2013, LabCentral is a network of shared laboratory spaces and scientific communities that serve as a launchpad for high-potential life-sciences and biotech start-ups. We deliver first-class facility and operational support, skilled laboratory personnel, and an expansive events program designed to add value to the community and promote connectivity ‒ as well as the other critical services and support that early-stage companies need to begin start-up operations.
About Pagliuca Harvard Life Lab
The Pagliuca Harvard Life Lab is a wet laboratory with co-working space for early-stage, high-potential biotech and life science start-ups founded by Harvard students, alumni, faculty, and postdoctoral scholars. Our state of the art, 15,000-square foot facility is located on Harvard Business School’s Allston campus and features a fully-equipped permitted wet laboratory and collaborative co-working space. The Pagliuca Harvard Life Lab was made possible by the support and generosity of Judy and Stephen Pagliuca. The Life Lab is operated in partnership with LabCentral.
What is this role?
LabCentral is hiring a Site Manager to oversee the day to day operations of the Pagliuca Harvard Life Lab (Life Lab), a part of the Harvard Innovation Labs and a facility operated by LabCentral located on the Harvard Business School campus in Allston, MA.
This is a role with responsibility for ensuring the smooth operation of the facility and a healthy relationship with the team members at the Harvard Innovation Labs, Harvard University, and the resident community. This person will employ a high level of autonomy in their work, thinking critically about problems within the context of multiple layers of complexity and taking the initiative to pursue new ideas.
What will I do?
Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of three to manage the Pagliuca Harvard Life Lab and foster a collaborative, professional environment
- In partnership with the Associate Director, Life Labs, collaborate with Harvard Innovation Labs leadership to share best practices for facility management, programming opportunities, and marketing and engagement
- Think critically to resolve unique issues revolving around a shared work environment and help maintain an environment of collaboration and creativity in partnership with the Associate Director, Life Labs
- Manage the team ensuring their success, growth, and development in the day to day and their LabCentral career
- Manage and collaborate on budget projections with the Associate Director, Life Labs, LabCentral, and Harvard Innovation Labs teams and prepare regular usage reports
- Oversee operations in the facility, including communications, space management, centralized procurement, lab operations, and EHS services
- Serve as proxy and point of contact for the Harvard Principal Investigator who reports to the Harvard Committee on Microbiological Safety (COMS)
- Serve as emergency contact coordinator and provide oversight on facility safety
What do I bring?
Desired qualifications:
- 5+ years of scientific/lab management experience with increasing leadership and management responsibility, Master's or PhD in a scientific field preferred
- Outstanding organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks and/or projects
- High level of proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), and database systems
- Experience with startup or fast-growing organizations in the biotech industry helpful, along with operations, project, and team management
- Ability and eagerness to coach and mentor life-sciences and biotech founders and startups
- Strong written and verbal communication skills including public speaking
- Self-starter with excellent work ethic, customer focus and optimistic attitude
- Exhibit effective leadership skills, including willingness to roll up sleeves to help get things done
- Desire to be part of a team-focused environment and derive pleasure and satisfaction in helping others
Work environment:
- Fully onsite during regular business hours with the scheduled need for off hours availability
- Ability to sit for long periods, ability to move around an office and lab environment, and ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand
- Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 25 pounds

Compensation
Our compensation philosophy is intentional and researched to align with average market salaries; comprehensive, generous benefits to support overall well-being; and parity with our existing and future team members. Below details the value of what our compensation package may look like, but specific details pertaining to an individual will vary.
Salary range: $83-108k along with the potential to earn a bonus of 12% based on company performance.
Approximate monetary value of benefits (based off an individual – dependents increase value): $22,000.
